Varannan Vatten (Every Other water) - For a Better Valborg

Drink water between every alcoholic beverage! During the Valborg weekend, Kuratorskonventet, LF Uppsala, Uppsala University, and Uppsala Municipality will be distributing water in central Uppsala.

The Varannan Vatten (Every Other Water) concept was originally developed by Region Gotland and has since become widely recognized across Sweden. The goal is to promote smarter alcohol consumption by encouraging people to drink both less and more responsibly. In Uppsala, the campaign was launched by Kuratorskonventet in the spring of 2009 and has since become an integral part of the Valborg celebrations.

Valborg week in Uppsala is a major student and public festival where alcohol often plays a role. Through the Varannan Vatten campaign, we aim to contribute to a safer celebration for everyone, from a public health perspective. Together, the student nations and the municipality distribute over 80,000 water bottles, both at the nations and at various locations in central Uppsala.

And there’s even more reason to pick up a water bottle—each year, the bottles feature a brand-new design with a custom illustration by Uppsala-based graphic artist Jesper Holm.
