Walpurgis herring lunch at Uppsala art museum
30 Apr - 30 Apr
Plats: Vasasalen, Uppsala Art Museum
11:00-14:30
Lean back in our beautiful auditorium Vasasalen, take in the familiar flavors of spring, and enjoy the music of Väsen. Museum Director Daniel Werkmäster will offer reflections on art and life, and Elin Cullhed will deliver the “Speech to Spring.” All of this at Uppsala Castle, close to Carolinabacken and tradition.
The master of ceremonies is Daniel Werkmäster. The entertainment is provided by the duo Väsen. Väsen, consisting of Mikael Marin and Olov Johansson, have played together since 1983 and have developed a unique and telepathic interplay. Their music is intense, humorous, and blends the modern with traditional folk music from Uppland. Väsen quickly became popular on the Swedish folk music scene and has also gained international recognition for their unique sound featuring the nyckelharpa and tenor viola.
Elin Cullhed debuted in 2016 with a novel for young adults, The Gods (Gudarna), which was praised by critics and readers alike.
In 2021, she was awarded the August Prize in the fiction category for her novel Euphoria (Eufori) – a novel about Sylvia Plath. Euphoria has been published in twenty-six countries and nominated for the Prix Médicis Étranger in France and the Premio Strega in Italy. The herring lunch is prepared by the art museum’s restaurant, operated by Cajsa’s Kök.
