Visitor Welcome to Walpurgis in Uppsala
We’ll see you in 2025!
What did you do on the last of April? In Uppsala, it was full speed ahead and a true people’s festival out on the streets, squares, and parks. The day was celebrated by both young and old and attracted up to 150,000 visitors.
We want to extend a B I G thank you, and at the same time, honor the 40 or so authorities, organizations, businesses, and associations within our collaboration for the fantastic work done throughout the Valborg celebration. Together, we create conditions for residents and visitors to celebrate safely, neatly, and securely. It is thanks to you that Uppsala is Sweden’s Valborg.
We hope to see you again when we welcome spring in 2025!

Drink water
The water campaign “Varannan Vatten” (“every other water”) is a natural part of valborg (Walpurgis) in Uppsala. We hand out water bottles at the following locations:
- At all student nations
- Stora torget
- S:t Olofsgatan/Kyrkogårdsgatan
- Ekonomikumparken
Keep it clean
Together we can make Uppsala and Valborg (Walpurgis) one of the cleanest events in Sweden. Around the city, there are a large number of trash bins placed, use them.
In Ekonomikumparken, we are building a new tradition – for every kilogram of garbage you throw in a trash can, our partners LF Uppsala and Akademiska hus donate money to the Academic Hospital’s children’s fund. Additionally, together with Pantamera, we also donate all money that comes from recycling collected bottles and cans. Now you have twice as many reasons not to litter.
Use the toilets
For your safety and everyone’s well-being, seek out and use the toilet when you need to. Feel free to look at the map on the back of the leaflet to find the nearest one.
Find medical care and police
If you have questions or need help, feel free to contact the nearest event host in the yellow vest. There are many patrolling police officers who can help if you are exposed to something or feel uncomfortable in any situation. You can also call in non-emergency crimes via 114 14.
he Red Cross will be present with first aid personnel around Fyrisån on April 30th from 9 am to 1 pm, as well as in Ekonomikumparken from 8 am to 8 pm. Evening and night patrols will then take place in the city.
If you need care for simple emergencies, Kungsgärdet’s care centre has two mobile medical teams with a nurse and a doctor on site at The River Rafting (Forsränning) from 09 am and there after in Ekonomikumparken from until 8 pm.
In case of serious crime, injury, or serious illness, call 112.
Find your friend
Decide a time and place to meet if you lose your friends. If mobile coverage is poor, go to Stora torget, Svartbäcksgatan or Dragarbrunnsgatan in the City Center for free WiFi. You can save battery on your mobile phone by using ”power save mode”.

Get yourself home
Make sure you know in good time when your last train or bus goes. A tip is to buy your ticket in advance through the UL app, preferably a 24-hour ticket so you can travel as much as you want throughout the day. Keep track of when the last departures are. You will find current timetables and tickets directly in UL’s, SL’s and SJ’s various apps or at www.ul.se. Also, keep in mind that some streets are closed and that this also applies to taxis.
